pleasently charming, shabby and ephermal on a summer evening it was anyones and everyone s

2 years after harold s mom graduated, the williamstown theater festival put on a production of the golden boy starring a then as yet unknown actor named dylan mcdermott who would play pick up basketball with us almost every day at lasell gymnasium

he asked my name one time so i asked his

he said very clearly " dylan [ something ] "
he said it like i should remember it and i did ...except for the remembering part thought he had said macgilvery [ he looked very similar to peter macgilvery who was just becoming a successful photographer at the north adams transcript and williamstown advocate - if memory serves ] ...but he said he was with the wtf so back in 2012 i googled wtf to see if it was dylan m and voila !

paul newman s wife joanne woodward directed the golden boy that year and paul newman built a house out on hancock road almost across from where i was working as a laborer with dave remodeling bob mayer s house

bob was putting solar panels on his sun porch addition's roof to heat an enclosed hot tub - and the cement floor of the sunporch - using pvc pipe layed in the cement which would be filled with hot water from the water heater, which was hooked up to the solar panels

you can just barely see the solar panel on the sun porch roof still

the newman s house looked pretty normal except for a really nice sectioned arc window over the door it might still be there was 2 houses past 720 hancock road on the southern side back then
